Two halogenated flame retardants and cadmium in the soil-rice system: sorption, root uptake, and translocation
|||||||||||||

This study examines the migration and transformation of Tetrabromobisphenol A (TBBPA), Dechlorane Plus (DP), and cadmium in a soil-rice system and their effects on two rice varieties. TBBPA degraded into brominated metabolites with varying half-lives, accumulating in rice tissues, particularly mono-BBPA and bisphenol A in stems and grains. DP residues were highest in roots, while cadmium showed strong bioaccumulation in roots and translocation to stems and grains. NO7 rice displayed higher bioaccumulation of pollutants than NO1. Cadmium significantly impacted grain quality, affecting iodine blue value and amylase activity. Selecting low-bioaccumulation rice varieties could mitigate food chain risks to human health.
