Using a transdisciplinary approach, this article addresses the lack of precise information regarding the quantity, sources and impacts of plastic marine debris. The estimation of mismanaged waste is based on an analysis and overview of scientific research on plastic pollution in the region. A regional and international regulatory framework for marine debris is examined in this article. The research integrates scientific findings and modeling techniques to provide a comprehensive account of this regional sea. Since the problem is transboundary, the article discusses possible ways to achieve synergies and cooperation. It also suggests, public-private cooperation and cooperation between government and civil society as the keys to success.
